About a year ago I wrote this passage:
One goes through life feeling confident that you are doing the work…you know, self discovery, recycling, carpooling, eating organic food, living simply within your means…and it feels like everything is pretty balanced. Then one day a 2 X 4 comes out of the blue and bonks you up the side of your head…this is the proverbial signal that has also been referred to as an “aha” moment or an epiphany. For those like me who can breeze right past the subtle signals, the universe provides the 2X4. It comes in a whisper, it comes with a shout, it comes with unexpected events like death or divorce, mine came in the way of a diagnosis.
The message was clear: Giving too much away, not taking care of self. And then the extra baggage in the form of guilt and grief. My life was not as simple or balanced as I would like to believe. The signal finally registered. My body, mind, and spirit had to be nurtured and healed before I could give to others. So the journey began…
This is what Good Nature’d Living is about. Creating balance within and without and remembering and nurturing the connection to all that is. As the seasons of the year unfold, so will a simpler more joy-full life…
